Below is the first chapter of my forthcoming murder mystery novel, The Bloody River Bridge Falls, an atmospheric and suspenseful story set in a small town where the past never stays buried. When two men are found dead in an apparent murder-suicide at a local hangout known for its dark history, the lead detective reluctantly teams up with a sharp, young historian to uncover the truth. As they dig into the town’s haunted past, they realize the bodies are only the latest victims in a long pattern of violence stretching back centuries.
